A new museum dedicated to
Winston Churchill opened at the Cabinet War Rooms on 11 February 2005.
It forms the core of an exciting expansion project at this once secret
underground wartime headquarters.
Technographic Displays designed
and manufactured three scrolling text displays specifically for the
museum using not LEDs but 5,600 incandescent lamps, for a "period" look.
Once again, Casson Mann were responsible for the concept design. The
contract was placed with Technographic Displays by Electrosonic, who
were responsible for the AV fitout in the museum.
The design of the electronics was
optimised to preserve the lifetime of the lamp bulbs whilst improving
the turn-on and turn-off times. The metalwork was very carefully
designed so that the various display sections would follow exactly the
angled wall sections.
