New displays for Leicester Square
Technographic Displays has installed two
Mitsubishi Electric AVL-OD8 displays within the entrance canopy at the
Empire, Leicester Square.
The building houses the Empire Cinema and
the Casino at the Empire, and one display is dedicated to each.
A purpose-designed control system was
provided with independent automatic brightness control of the two
displays and remote monitoring and control.
5th year running in Madrid
ACTIV-Banner has been used to control the
centre-court perimeter advertising at the Madrid Tennis Masters for the
last 5 years. As in 2006, this system was used for both the MUTUA
MADRILEÑA Masters and Sony Ericsson events in Madrid in 2007.
Rob Booth operated the system on behalf of
Technographic Displays at both events.
Coca Cola screen playout system
Since November 2005 the Coca-Cola screen
in London’s Piccadilly Circus has been controlled by a
specially-commissioned Technographic Displays ACTIV Media Player. The
capabilities of the system have been extended, with a news-ticker and
graphics overlay system having been added for the 2006 FIFA World Cup.
The playout system was commissioned by
DisplayLED who have undertaken a complete refurbishment of the 200
square metre display. Technographic Displays provides ongoing technical
support for the control system and uploading of the high-resolution
graphical sequences.
Holyhead revisited
Invision Microsystems first installed a
passenger information system at the Port of Holyhead eleven years ago in
1996. As well as a number of CRT monitors in the terminal buildings, the
original system comprised two tri-colour (red-green-amber) outdoor LED
displays measuring 4m x 1.6m.
In 2006, Technographic Displays won an
order from Stena Line Ports to replace the entire system. A new,
web-browser-based control system was developed and installed along with
modern LCD monitors in 2006 and one of the original displays has now
been enlarged to 4m x 2m and fitted with new full-colour LED display
modules designed and manufactured by Technographic Displays.
The whole installation took two installers
just over two days, despite frequent heavy rain showers!
Athletics scoreboards in 2007
Technographic Displays has launched
TechEvent - a brand new video and graphics control system aimed at live
events generally and athletics presentations in particular. We have been providing
ACTIV-Banner operational services and equipment to Creative Technology
for use at UK Athletics events run by Fast
Track since February 2003. ACTIV-Banner specifically linked to Unitek
LED displays and, with LED panel technology moving on, the final ACTIV-Banner
athletics scoreboard appeared
at The Norwich Union International meeting in Glasgow on 27th January
2007.
The first TechEvent scoreboard was used for the Norwich Union
Grand Prix at Birmingham's National Indoor Arena on 17th February 2007,
closely followed by the European Athletics Indoor Championships, again
at the NIA from 2nd - 4th March 2007. The EAIC scoreboard heralds a new
era of flexible-format event presentation display systems, with two
video windows, animation replays and live scoring, all combined into one
user interface.
More recently, TechEvent was used to
control the screen at the Norwich Union Glasgow Grand Prix at the
(outdoor) Scotstoun Stadium.
More photographs
of TechEvent in action appear here.
LED reception desk to be installed in
Moscow
January 2007: Technographic Displays has
designed a pixel-addressable full-colour display system with a 50mm
pixel pitch. The LED boards will be fitted behind the external faces of
a 4m-wide glass reception desk to be installed in a prestigious
headquarters building in Moscow.
The design of the desk is by Casson Mann,
with interactive software being developed by
Soda.
