Technographic Displays has installed two full-colour ACTIV-Banner scoreboards at Portman Road, the home of Ipswich Town Football Club.

The ACTIV scoreboards make a significant contribution to the match day entertainment both before and during play. Prior to kick-off, the scoreboards show “welcome” messages, complete with home and away club crests, team-lists, sponsors’ logos, Mascots’ names, and Club advertising, the Club’s web site (complete with a “surfing” video clip - see above), special offers, etc. As the players emerge from the tunnel, a “fireworks” animation is shown. During play, the scoreboards show the score, the time and a match timer (which can be set to count up or down). Each time a corner kick is awarded, the Corner Sponsor’s logo and strap-line are shown. For each home or away substitution, the two players’ names are shown, followed by the Substitution Sponsor’s logo and strap-line. Home goals result in a “goal” animation followed by an animated version of the Club’s crest:

In an article in the August 2002 edition of Panstadia International, Trevor Kirton, Ipswich Town's Stadium Manager, described the system as "Absolutely brilliant". He continued, "The image quality and clarity are fantastic, and it has been well received by fans".
